Working Stock: Working-Stock gold is the portion of the U.S. government-owned Gold Bullion Reserve that the U.S. Mint uses as the raw material for minting congressionally authorized coins. Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

The price of gold is calculated at the official price of gold, at $42.2222 per troy ounce. How come I can't buy gold from the treasury at that "official price"?

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

I have been waiting for them to up the "official" price since I first started buying in the early nineties, I still think they will do it one day.
It would be a windfall for them, and put a higher floor on Gold for me.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

Maybe it's just a hunch, but I think if the average person heard that the Treasury or un-Federal Reserve were holding all this gold, they wouldn't have a second thought of it. But, if that same person heard that a random individual such as your or were holding gold, they'd probably think we were nuts/weirdos, or at least ask, "Why??"

Just what I think, and it would seem odd if it turned out to be true.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

Why is the "Federal Reserve Bank" (cartel) holding gold for the US Treasury?

Also, does anyone know the amount of USD in circulation? If all of this gold (supposedly) was used to back the USD, how many dollars would there be for every ounce?

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

You know..........that is a whole lot of ounces,

but nothing in dollar value compared to the fiat outstanding.

Just an incredible difference.

Think of how much room it would take to store 261M ounces. Then how that is just a very small part of our annual budget, let alone our debt.

Deep Storage: Deep-Storage gold is the portion of the U.S. government-owned Gold Bullion Reserve that the U.S. Mint secures in sealed vaults, which are examined annually by the Department of Treasury's Office of the Inspector General.

'Sealed vaults' = down a mineshaft in the dirt somewhere

The reason the official price is $42.00 is so when the bankers seize it due to our dollars default they can only charge off $42.00 per ounce against the debt.

These people are scum I tell ya and they need to be dealt with. Since we have nothing but cowardly scum representing us we are not only going to be robbed as a nation of those assets but our personal ones too.

If that don't piss you off you haven't got a pulse.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

But seriously, I've heard from multiple sources that there hasn't been an audit on Fort Knox gold for decades. So where does this number 147,341,858.382 that is supposedly accurate to 1/1000th of an ounce come from.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

This includes the gold that's leased out doesn't it.

I also am concerned that when the confication occurs they will pay the 42$/oz, though I think it is more likely they will pay spot. It doesn't hurt them much since they just print the paper.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

Curtman, I never thought of that angle,The banks seize our country's Gold and only charge off 42 bucks an ounce against the debt. I think they can get away with it.
And yeah it gets me angry.

I think there's a typo. This report has to be from 1976 not 2006.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

I am serious. I am not so foolish to believe those that have robbed us in the past do not intend to do so again. These are career criminal scum man. We need to tell them to eat their federal reserve notes and re issue a currency backed in some part by gold and silver. No new gold inventories no new currency.

You're right... it looks like a lot of gold, but market value is "only" $157B. Small change in the scheme of things.

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h6/Current/

Using the narrow "M1" definition of money supply, there is $1,357,800,000,000 in "circulation". In order to "back" this amount of "money" with the (supposed) gold reserves of the USA, gold would have to be valued at $5,192.37 per ounce.

I'm OK with that.

Curtman 10-30-2006 10:31 PM

Re: U.S. Treasury Gold Holdings

Well it wouldn't be measured in todays dollars worth.

Does that figure of what is in circulation represent / include the leveraged paper that is a result of fractional reserve lending?
